Claude invited us to go to a neighboring village before dinner.
The village is called Vacheres.

Beth noticed how the farms aren't all fenced in and planting seems to be on the honor system.

This town also sits on top of a hill.
This is their school:

With separate entrances for boys and girls until the 1970's.

We stopped for a glass of wine (red, of course) and saw some people walking down the street carrying loaves of bread. They said their friend owns a bakery and took us there. A woman was making croissants which she put in a brick oven with a paddle in a long pole. The paddles are kept along the ceiling as you can see at the top of the photo.of course we bought bread.

The bakery seemed to be in a cave.

We were back home by 9:00. The sun was in the sky.
